Sukoshicon and Cosplay Photoshoot at Old Roswell Mill

Oh Sukoshicon, it's a love and hate relationship with you. 6 out of 10. If it wasn't for testing a new lens or being bored out of my mind, I wouldn't go. For the Athens locals, it's probably great for them.

The day started out a bit late in the morning for I was too busy waiting on a package. After a long hour drive there, a bunch of memories started to flood me. College life, the 2am drives where I would drive my ex back to her dorm after a fun filled day. The boring classes and the oh so familiar campus that contained the busy-bodied students. Memories that only I could only explain. I wore my Putumayo outfit since I was feeling lazy and quickly toured the whole convention in less than 5 minutes. It's really small, but for a first con, it should be a blast for some people.

I met the photographer from Double Stomp Productions and we had a good chat about camera gear and what not. From his last shoot at Ichibancon 2014, I really liked his work and was pleased that his Sigma 30? 35mm? lens was able to deliver some crazy photos. The type of lens he has on his camera really allows him to get closer, unlike my 50 which I have to 'back that ass up', usually. Then again, he does set up camp with the backdrop and lights so we are different people. I would get bored of sitting in one spot and letting people come so I can take pictures, I prefer to get into the action and think on my feet as I take pictures. It's more fun for me and it pushes me to take consideration of so many things. Just 1 camera and natural light to make magic happen. Eventually, I get bored and will buy lights and what not when my old age kicks in.

All photos shot with Canon 50mm 1.2L

There wasn't much to do and I didn't want to wait for the shenanigans to happen at the Anime Dating Game panel so I left early. Went to the only Cookout location in Georgia and enjoyed a banana pudding milkshake. A bad thing about their milkshakes it is soooooo damn thick that it'll hurt your mouth if you try to drink it by straw.

Location, Location, Location! I can see why the local cosplay group decided to have another meetup at this place for it offer plenty of variety. You got the pipes and water in one area, a waterfall at another, and bunch of sites to do whatever you please.

Much props to the cosplayer risking his life for the shot!

I like how the trees add a little bit more to the picture. We are dealing with a Pyro, after all.

Lovin' the background blur by this lens.

I've also met another Korean named Stephen. He's a young one, but he's also interested into alt. fashion like I am! I hope I can teach him a few things and make him call me senpai. -_-

Feb. 16th, Soon to Come

Back from Kamicon. Will have to edit pictures, write a review about Kamicon, social network, you know. I think going to cons is starting to become like a business lol.

-Kamicon Season 6 (2014) review

Next week is a lolita meetup that is for newcomers to j-fashion. I'll be attending that and deciding on what coord to wear...

Lolita Tea Party

Tea anyone?

Well, I'm still alive after going through all of the excitement of my first tea party! It all started with a cold, cloudy day in January. Everything I planned for had gone wrong, for my outfit wasn't made so I couldn't twin, the weather was wacky, and being this was my first big meetup, I wasn't so sure about myself. I was mainly concerned about making new friends and meeting people since I didn't get a chance to do that a lot at the cookie meetup due to my ex-girlfriend. I get really nervous in situations I don't know anyone and usually assume the worst possible scenario might happen to me, but luckily, the venue served alcoholic beverages!!!

Replace the candy with liquor, and let the fun begin!
One by one, each guest with their outfit matched to the theme, which was royalty, started to appear out of nowhere and invade the tea room. I lucked out again, for a couple people recognized me and sat with me! Over 60 people attended and the snacking soon commenced!

One half of the room

Other half of the room

French press

Those were some good finger sandwiches. Too bad I only had one half!
The weather started to get better so everyone went outside.

! Also during the service one of the male members of the community proposed to his girlfriend. I frantically tried to whip out my camera and record the scene but only managed to get the ending.

She said yes! These kind of events make me happy and mushy with the thoughts of love. In a way, I like to see them and cheer the couple on in my head because they get to take future steps in life with each other... an idea I used to have. It makes me bummed out sometimes I wasn't able to do that with the person I was serious with, but I know it was for the better.

Group shot
A lot of the lolitas divided up and went to eat dinner. Sadly, I can't remember what happened after this part since I had a little too much. I ended up losing my credit card and somehow recovered it later on through the night.

To sum it up, I thought the event went well. The food was good, everyone was talking, and I had a great time shooting some photos. The bad part is that I thought there was very little time to socialize and time to get to know people individually. It'll be nice if there were smaller meet ups, I know I'll be going to one in February!

Ichibancon 5

8.5 out of 10. Can't wait to go back next year.

First Carolina convention. I really didn't expect much since I was looking towards the fashion show, but man, this place DELIVERED like a dedicated pizza man in a snowstorm. Between this convention and AWA, it's really hard and it was neck and neck. I liked AWA for its size, but Ichibancon seemed to capture the togetherness of a smaller convention, yet had enough entertainment to keep me busy and pleased.
Fountain with a mini waterfall in the middle of the hotel.

Only one part of the Video Game Room. Note the 3 dancing games which I LOVE!
The only stairway suitable for photos.
FRIDAY

Okay, so let's begin with Friday. Friday was a big, big day for me since it was my first time in a fashion show. I never modeled or did anything related to beauty, I actually shyed away from it, because I used to be picked in school for my appearance. But hey, life has been good to me and with enough hard work, I'm pleased with my body.... for now. Cosplay plans require me to change so it's back to that 6-pack workout. Excited from the energy of the con and from Thursday's brief DDR adventure, I took some pictures of the con-attendees. Now, I'm not sure if it is due to my availability bias, but it seemed like this convention had a lot of j-fashion running around. I was finding one every couple of minutes or so...

Imagine all sorts of styles walking throughout the con. Yeah, it was diverse.
...until it was time to apply makeup. I wish a makeup pro or somebody who is well experienced can help me, I learn better than trial and error, but I'm doing okay so far. After I applied makeup I went to the gathering place where the show was going to be held at, and there were a lot of models waiting. I immediately froze up and took the seat that was closest, yet farthest away from people. I could already hear my heart beating faster than pistons in a car engine (Bugatti Veyron, over 1000hp anyone?). Sat my arse down and proceeded to freeze as usually when a lovely lady sitting next to me started making small talk. I was so nervous that I started to do that thing again, where I would give short answers while a million thoughts remained crammed in my head.

"Was my wig okay?" "How the hell am I suppose to pose?" "Are any loose parts showing?" "What's for lunch after the show?" "I really gotta pee, even though I went to the restroom five minutes ago."

Luckily, she didn't treat my cold demeanor as being an ass, so we became friends later! Ah that's right, after show picture:

Some of the participants in the fashion show.
I decided to take it easy for the rest of the day after the fashion show since I was suffering from the after effects of pent up nervousness. Hard liquor does amazing stuff to the nerves... My friend, Y, came around midnight so it was good to catch up with him...

My first time at Jack in the Box! We don't have em in Atlanta. The burger was about Wendy's quality, but the real winner was the breakfast menu being available all DAY!!!!

SATURDAY

Saturday was nothing but picture taking time. Attended some lolita panels, which was very informative! Probably a very difficult, but workable goal of mine is to memorize all of the prints the brands pump out. I'm slowly starting to recognize some, but usually forget about the name.

Final Fantasy 6 (JPN), Sakizou version

Some Vocaloid Inspiration
I keep running into newly made friends from the fashion show! It's really nice, to have that homey feel to this convention. I was only expecting to play the living crap of the gameroom, but these people were really nice. I miss them a lot. So later on the day, Y and I got some food and spent a lot of time just talking about life. Slowly though, his mood started to change.

One thing that irked me. Some guy who was really good at DDR, not a newbie at that, decided to sit all the way close up to the pads. Now, I think he seen me play both pads and I take up extra space, but I don't know why he decided to do that. I warned him that I was going to hit him if he sat there and he just looked at me like I was a joke. I then explained that I was going to freestyle and that I will hit him cause I often did handstands and all sorts of tricks, but he refused to budge.

Sunday

During breakfast Y didn't talk much. I'm not sure if it was due to him not being a morning person or if he's always quiet like that, but he didn't seem to talk much throughout the morning. I had to take a shower and get ready for a panel, but when I stepped out of the bathroom, he was gone. I'm not sure if it was something I did, but I had a feeling he was angry at me? Or disappointed? He often complains he is unable to relate to younger people, with me being significantly younger than him, but it always looks like he's chasing the younger girls. He's a puzzling guy for sure, and it is hard for him to get him talking. And he claims I'm his best friend..... Sometimes, it is the men that I have a harder time figuring out than women. It's probably been a week or two after the con and he still hasn't talked. *shrug*

I was about to call it early and drive back, but I keep running into my newly made friends! It was sooooo nice being able to talk about whatever and just be around people who share your interests. Just honest people, having a good time. It may be just a convention to you, but to me, it's a big boost to my sanity. It makes me very sad I had to leave, but hopefully I get to see them again and again!

A friend.
Next week is the big lolita tea party. My outfit didn't arrive in time, so I'll probably reuse an old one. The next post will be about that.

Yama-Con, International Lolita Day

3b, once again, back in the building to post.

Over the weekend I attended Yamacon for the first time. The con is still fresh, for it is holding their second year. At first I wasn't so excited, but the price point and location was a very convincing factor for me. Add to that a lolita tea party, it made me want to go! Coord pics, right? Well... the thing is... I absolutely suck at getting my coords "full". The only coord I considered complete was probably the dandyish one, since I had everything, but socks and hats. Anyways, I was surprised I managed to pull something out, but in my opinion, I wished I had everything in white and gold. The black and gold version looks better in my opinion.

Tea party on Sunday's outfit. Decided to go brand except for socks and blouse.
Vest- AatP
Blouse- Off brand
Pochette- AatP
Shorts- AatP

One thing that gets me about those pants... they are kind of see-through. I think I may need to wear some white boxers or something to help my thighs blend in. By the way, if you ever get bored on driving on the highways, TN seems to do a good job in keeping you alert with the dips, uphill battles, and many flirts with edges. I nearly died about twice because I was going to fast, even though I was braking constantly! Add some nasty rain to the drive and you a recipe for an Initial D movie.

I've arrived on a Saturday morning with a lot of energy and excitement. Unfortunately, I arrived too early, so I wasted part of morning do mundane stuff like getting an oil change and eating those many pancake places they had. In my honest opinion, they look like any other pancake place in the world, and I also got hashbrowns instead of those cakes made from the pan.

There wasn't much to do at Yama... well, at least in the morning. What did keep me interested was the retro games and Stepmania they offered. I also participated in the Nintendo World Championships. 3 games, 6 mins and 21 secs to get the high score in 3 games (Super Mario, Rad Racer, and Tetris). That was a pretty fun blast in the past. They also had stepmania with a homemade? hardpad.

Ate some gooood sushi. ALL YOU CAN EAT WITH 35 choices. They only offer by the rolls so you are literally stuck with eating 8 of the same thing until the next roll heh.

Steak, Eel+Salmon, and Salmon was some of the many selections.

Sunday: The lolita tea party hosted by the East TN Lolitas! I wasn't able to talk to any of them cause I met with a lolita before the gathering and we had some fun and interesting conversations. She's a blast to talk with and I love her facial expressions for they make me crack up like a hyena. I thought the level of details on her outfit was amazing, especially the top wear. She also makes her stuff and her coord in my opinion, looked fabulous and would like to see more stuff from her. Another girl wearing a sailor lolita coord looked too cute (always had a thing for sailor outfits) and she was too fun to talk with at the party. Too bad she doesn't do FB often, because I would like to meetup with her again for she seemed like a fun person along with my other lolita friend. It's a shame because the next thing I knew, everyone was leaving cause the time was up!

I still need to get over my shyness... I think I'm making progress, but danggggg it's so difficult to go up to people when they are in groups. 1v1, I do perfectly fine.

Summary: Overall, the convention was pretty fun. Even though it was small, the events there offered some fun. Sometimes it got boring, then, it would get fun out of nowhere. I felt like it was worth the trip and give it good enough grade to call it a con and not a gathering. I think with more years, it will get more and more exciting. Add to that a reasonable price for lodging and location (Pidgeon Forge!) it will be a future convention I would go to again.

Sailor Lolita. From the numerous categories of lolita, sailor is one of my favorite ones. We go a long way, sailor and I. Too cute >_>

This girl makes a lot of handmade stuff and is the CEO of her own company at a very young age. She gets mad props from me for being such a sweet and real person. I hope we can meet again!

Vest- Sixh
Shirt- Off brand
Shorts- Off brand

Ending it with my first punk coordinate. I think I may need something in the chest area to jazz it up. Now this raises the question, is this punk or is this boystyle? I often get confused as hell thinking about it and other combination of clothes I have. Help would be appreciated! T_T

Mr. Stylez has left the building.

OotD and Fashion Meetup

Been a while! I was invited to a male fashion group by a fellow lolita and was very interested. Seeing that my newly bought brand clothes needed a test drive, I said why not. A small and first meetup, it was going to be cold but I thought I could handle it. I almost turned into a Popsicle due to those damned shorts.

Pardon the crappy mirror shot. And horrible lighting.
Vest- Alice and the Pirates
Blouse- Alice and the Pirates
Shorts- Alice and the Pirates

I saw some cool fashion like the Volante jackets sported by a couple of the guys at the meet. It looked pretty great, but I don't think it would fit me. Or maybe I haven't gotten to that fashion yet. I'm slowly building my boystyle wardrobe, but lack a lot of head wear and accessories. I lack a lot of socks too so I'm all depending on black colors.

Cookie meet-up should be the next event. Until next time, but for now, I'll be thawing out my thighs.

OotD and Sukoshicon

3b here. Blogging from the phone. Ill keep it short and sweet.

Necklace- h.naoto
Shirt- Bodyline
Shorts- sixh

I didn't get to finish the ribbon pattern on the shirt and bought two spools of ribbon just in case I needed more ribbon. Im digging the double collar design along with the blue and black tones. The straps make a good finish and I love straps.

Sukoshicon review
Since I think the convention is still growing, I think it wasnt so bad in that aspect. I liked the venue and this place has so much potential. The bad thing imo, was the location. Off far away from downtown atlanta, transportation is difficult and it might have affected the total numbers.

The lack of a videogame room/arcade and interesting panels made this possible fun convention a lowered experience. Add to that a pricey ticket.

Tune in next time for the next outfit and outing.

The beginning to a short blog, and possible rage quit!

Well, here goes nothing. My name is 3B and I mostly started this blog because I used to love writing and I feel like I'm losing my touch. Now I ain't no Hemmingway, but if I start to write about the things I am interested in, then I feel like I can express myself, since I roam around all day with a deadpan face. Add to the fact that I mainly use facebook as twitter, it's only reasonable that I write down my thoughts here. Fashion, food, and funk (I shoulda named this blog 3F instead) is the name of the game, with focus mainly on boystyle, sweet foods and drinks, and hip-hop dance.

My first paragraph definitely sucked. My thoughts seem to be jumping everywhere. Blogging is very hard when you haven't done it for quite a while. I guess for my first entry I'll talk about how I got into lolita. A family member (not mom or dad for sure) dressed up one day in some sweet looking threads that captured the essence of youth. Now clothing for men is usually lame and big since I have a skinny frame, but what he wore that day was absolutely amazing. I consider myself having a mild case of Peter Pan Syndrome and just amazed at the outfit.

Yummy, but not quite the same Peter Pan Syndrome.

I never really got to remember the outfit until AWA came and while I was on my rigid weight loss regiment, I discovered his outfit sitting all neat in the corner of the closet! Low and behold, I wasn't too big and I was able to fit in! A simple, but crappy intro, I think I'll stop here for now. With later posts, I hope my writing gets better along with the content.
